Universal Taps Elizabeth Banks to Helm New Invisible Woman Film

Universal Pictures is continuing to expand their horror monster line-up and has hired Elizabeth Banks to direct and star in a new take on The Invisible Woman

After multiple attempts to get their “Dark Universe” off the ground, Universal is trying something new…Good movies with fresh takes on their horror monster icons. Well, at least that seem to be the plan. Next year’s The Invisible Man should give us a better idea, and if the (surprisingly great) trailer is anything to go by, they’re on the right track.

Now they’re working on Invisible Woman. Variety reports that Elizabeth Banks has been tapped to both direct and star in the upcoming film, but don’t expect it to share anything with The Invisible Man. Banks’ take on the film is supposedly very different from the upcoming film and that there will be “no crossover potential.”

The original Invisible Woman (1940) was more of a comedy, which is definitely something Elizabeth Banks is familiar with, but at the moment there’s no telling which direction this film will take. What do you hope to see out of Invisible Woman?
