Warner Bros. Sets Release Date for the Harry Potter Spin-Off

Being that it’s 2014 and studios have already packed the 2015 year full with highly anticipated films, it’s time to look ahead to the 2016 year.  While we know we’ve already got a Warcraft movie, Batman vs. Superman, and Captain America 3 hitting that year, we can now add a return to the world of Harry Potter, in Warner Bros. upcoming spin-off film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (likely a working title).  As revealed on Twitter:

So November 18, 2016 is the day to mark your calendars.  While we know the film won’t rely too much on the Harry Potter characters, it will still take place in that same world.  So fans of the franchise are sure to be excited about returning to it.  We still don’t have much information, but here’s some quotes from the initial announcement last year:

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be an original story and will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut. It is planned as the first picture in a new film series. Set in the wizarding world, the story will feature magical creatures and characters, some of which will be familiar to devoted Harry Potter fans.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling.
