[Updated] WB Reveals Massive Plans For DC Comics Cinematic Universe

[Editor’s Update: Exciting stuff huh?  Well, Warner Bros. has now been kind enough to share the official press release (the meeting has ended), which details all of this information and sums it up a little more.  Beyond the films given dates, they also confirm that more Batman and Superman solo films will happen before 2020.  So don’t worry if they’re not listed:

And, in a massive expansion of the Studio’s DC Entertainment-branded content, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will release a slate of at least 10 movies—as well as stand-alone Batman and Superman films—from 2016 through 2020 that expands this prized universe of characters:

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” directed by Zack Snyder (2016)

“Suicide Squad,” directed by David Ayer (2016)

“Wonder Woman,” starring Gal Gadot (2017)

“Justice League Part One,” directed by Zack Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)

“The Flash,” starring Ezra Miller (2018)

“Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa (2018)

“Shazam” (2019)

“Justice League Part Two,” directed by Zack Snyder (2019)

“Cyborg,” starring Ray Fisher (2020)

“Green Lantern” (2020)

Most of this is given out below, but sometimes it’s nice to have these official wordings.  Check out the original article:]

WB is hosting an investor meeting at the moment and dropped a few bombs to get them excited. The fun starts with Suicide Squad being the first film to follow Justice League in August of 2016! I assume they are using the modern version of Suicide Squad which deals with villains acting as anti-hero’s. The story revolves around them making deals with the government to be free from prison, in an attempt to help explain why villains always get out when they are busted by the superheroes.

The next few movies need no explaining. In June 2017 we will see Wonder Woman, and I’m super pumped for that! Also in 2017 will be the long….long….long awaited Justice League movie will come out in November! We can only assume that Wonder Woman will have direct ties to the film. The Flash, gaining popularity thanks to the TV Show, will be released in March 2018 along with Aquaman in July! The Flash will be played by Ezra Miller. In April 2019 Shazam and Justice League 2 will be released, and make your mind completely explode!

Ray Fisher will be playing Cyborg in Batman vs Superman, and according to the studio a stand alone movie is being planned, but not confirmed. It may come down to how popular he gets in that movie. Of course other Batman and Superman films will also fall in line somewhere in there too.

The interesting news I found was that they plan to bring Green Lantern back…but it’s going to be a reboot. This is the only disappointing news I saw, but I’m curious if they will be bringing back the same Green Lantern, or perhaps bring in say John Stewart instead. According to them, both Green Lantern and Cyborg will be released in 2020 if plans come through.

What do you guys think of this deluge of news?  Which films are you most interested in seeing?
