World War Z Sequel Gets a 2017 Release Date

It’s been a while since we’ve heard much of anything regarding World War Z 2.  We know that J.A. Bayona is set to helm the film with a script from Steven Knight, and that Brad Pitt is planning on retruning (his prodcution company is helping to fund it afterall), but that’s about it.  Now it looks like Paramount is ready to move forward, as The Wrap is reporting that World War Z 2 now has a release date: June 9, 2017

If that date sounds somewhat familiar, that’s because 20th Century Fox has already set that date for Fantastic Four 2, a sequel to this year’s upcoming reboot.  At this point, we still don’t know if Fantastic Four will be any good, so there’s no telling if Fox will want to keep that release date for a sequel or not.  Inevitably one of them will move out, as there’s no way they’ll want these films competing with each other.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

For now, you can set your calendars for June 9, 2017 as to when we’ll see Brad Pitt battle zombies once again.
