This word just came down from Warner Bros. It’s kind of surprising that even though they don’t really have a big SDCC presence this year, they still decide to drop this bomb of news on us during the event. Oh well.
Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel will now be hitting June 14, 2013. That’s about six months later than it’s original December 2012 release. On the whole it’s a smart move on Warner Bros end. I mean December 2012 is already looking packed. With Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Life of Pi, The Lone Ranger, and WB’s own The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, it’s going to be tough competition for any film. Putting it back to Summer 2013 is a smarter move. As of right now the only other Summer contender is Iron Man 3, but that’s about it.
This way WB can focus on promoting The Hobbit more, without having to worry about competing with themselves. While it sucks having to wait that much longer for Superman, it’s probably for the best. The film is still scheduled to begin shooting within the next month.
