Johnny Knoxville is back and this time he’s brought a plot. Last night I had the chance to watch Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa and I must admit I’m not the biggest fan of everything the Jackass crew does but I am a huge fan of pranking the public. And while we would fully expect that from these guys we actually get a story along with it.
Knoxville plays Irving Zisman and octogenarian who suddenly has to get his grandson (played by Jackson Nicoll) to his father after the kid’s mother goes to prison. Along the way all kinds of opportunities for mayhem and pranking are presented to them. And they range from making a passerby feel uncomfortable to let’s get out of here before the police get here. Some of the gags do use actors to further them along and a few of them are painfully obvious.
Gone seem to be the gags where someone gets a bowling ball to the head or something else causing bodily injury and instead we get a hidden camera laugh riot. Now not every single gag is funny but the reactions from the victims make this movie. My one gripe is that I would love to see the footage they didn’t use for the movie as it just seems like there’s a bit missing.
The story segments are not long at all and the dialogue isn’t anything thought provoking but Johnny Knoxville and Jackson Nicoll manage to stay in character throughout the movie. While this isn’t anything new from the Jackass team this is an enjoyable movie to sit down and just be entertained by the hilariousness of it all. You go in knowing what you’re getting into and you’re not disappointed. Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa opens this Friday October 25.
