A Roller Queen and Gameplay Footage Highlight Quake Champions

For those of you unfamiliar with Quake, think of it as Doom with a lot more levity.  That’s right, the high-paced, full-throttle gameplay you experienced in Doom has been fully implanted inside the light-hearted multiplayer in Quake Champions!  You can see the fruits of id Software and Bethesda‘s labor on display in the raw gameplay trailer!

The 2-minute video shows just how pulse-pounding Quake Champions looks to be when it eventually becomes available.  In fact, a select lucky few will be able to test the balls-to-the-wall system on Thursday, April 6, when the Closed Beta opens up.  Registration is now available so click here!

Additionally, the first esports tournament for Quake Champions will take place this August at Quakecon 2017 in Dallas!  Unfortunately, more information won’t be available until E3 2017, this June, but we do know it will be an Open Tournament at the BYOC from August 24 through the 27th!

As I stated previously, Quake Champions is a more comedic Doom.  What makes it that way are the characters.  Today, Bethesda and id would like to introduce you to a playable character, the Roller Queen of the Arenas herself, Slash!

Active Ability – Plasma Trail: Activating Slash’s Active Ability leaves a bright trail of destruction in her wake, inflicting damage on enemies careless enough to pass through the wall of pain. Players can also choose to hit their ability button again, causing the trail to explode, inflicting massive damage to Champions in the area. Cut off key paths or encircle enemies or power-ups in a crushing barrier of suffering.
Passive Ability – Crouch Slide: Slash is already super mobile, but by crouching while running, she’ll use her skates to go into Crouch Slide, allowing her to move full speed while crouching and whip around corners smoother and faster than other Champions.
