Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have confirmed that Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are being remastered through the power of Unreal Engine 4 for a bundle by the name of ‘Return to Arkham‘ that will hit store shelves this summer for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Alongside upgraded versions of both previous gen Arkham titles, the collection will is to feature the vast range of downloadable content from both ‘Asylum’ and ‘City’. While Warner Bros. Interactive have stated that the remastered bundle will have improved models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders, honestly, without screenshots or footage (and no known details of any possible gameplay changes) it’s simply too soon to tell whether this will be enough to provide a significant breath of fresh air into titles that really aren’t even that old to begin with.
It also appears unlikely that those who have enjoyed the series since 2009 on PC will receive a similar remake, most likely due to the already high visual quality of the older PC releases alongside the added aspect of community modding that over time tends to make is way around to fixing, cleaning and (arguably) improving most popular PC titles.
For those of you that have somehow managed to miss out on the truly excellent superhero experience that is the Arkham series, I passionately recommend taking this as a chance to delve into what I would personally argue are the finest gaming experiences in the DC universe.
Batman: Return To Arkham, will be available worldwide from July the 26th this summer for an estimated $49.99, €49.99, or £39.99.
