One of Square Enix‘s beloved series has a third game on the horizon next year! The team that brought the first Bravely Default game and Octopath Traveler revealed that the next entry in the Bravely series, Bravely Default II, is on its way to Nintendo Switch in 2020.

Witness the announcement trailer from The Game Awards and rejoice.

A new world, a new story, and all-new Heroes of Light await in an original RPG experience arriving on the Nintendo Switch system in 2020! This successor to the original Bravely Default game comes from the team that brought you the Bravely series and Octopath Traveler, and features music from Revo (Sound Horizon/Linked Horizon), acclaimed composer of the Bravely Default soundtrack.

Funny enough, Bravely Default II is actually the 3rd game in the series. Bravely Default released in 2012 on 3DS. It was followed by Bravely Second in 2015. I guess since it’s a direct sequel of the original Bravely Default game, Square Enix & co. thought it best to just add a II after Default? Nevertheless, it was a head-scratcher for fans of the series.

Bravely Default II will arrive on Nintendo Switch in 2020.
