It’s my favorite video game franchise ever, and this one was cool. You get the game and special stuff for it, but the limited edition came with all the cut scenes pieced together to make a 1 1/2 hour movie! Any MGS fan knows that the series has great cutscenes and awesome stories, so this is friggin cool! It’s hard to find, so the cheapest I’ve found was 100 dollars. Back then “limited edition” literally meant LIMITED EDITION, unlike today.
My second item is the Portal gun replica. I’ve come across several cool gift ideas, but I think this one is the coolest! You won’t be able to shoot portal (sadly) but we can pretend! It’s rather cheap being its a nicely details replica! Now we can just imagine shooting a portal at your office and next to your bed, and never have to drive in rush hour traffic again!
Ho-Ho-Holy Arkham Lego Batman (come on – the Christmas pun had to be used)! That’s right, Robin, our favourite caped crusader returns in Lego-form to grapple a familiar cast of super villains in the terrifying grounds of Arkham Asylum. Eight detailed chambers, alongside eight detailed figurines; Batman, Robin, The Joker, The Penguin, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, a guard and Dr Harleen Quinn – Harley Quinn before she flipped, becoming Joker’s twisted muse. The pack also includes; an ambulance (with restraints for The Joker), detailed gargoyle-guarded gothic-style gates, cells for all inmates and Poison Ivy’s glass chamber – exactly as it appears in the game…if it were considerably downsized, made out of plastic and designed by Lego. Oh, and Batman comes with a kendo stick and Batarangs!
You know that way, when you reach a certain age and you convince yourself that you’re too old to play with toys? Well bollocks to that! **Puts on cape, mask and utility belt** This is top of my Christmas list! I’m gona get up early on Christmas morning and play with my new Lego set right up until dinner. Dinner. Dinner, dinner, dinner, dinner Batman!!!
This BioShock poster was included in the special edition of BioShock 2. If, however, you missed the special edition, or refuse to pay extra for ‘special editions’ (I don’t blame you), then check this out. Available on Amazon for only $2.99 this 50s-inspired propaganda poster – similar to those in-game – features Andrew Ryan and two smartly presented members of distopian Rapture’s intelligentsia. I like gaming merchandise like this because it’s not tacky. This kind of retro print wouldn’t look out of place framed and hanging on the wall of a quirky, Victorian-esque kitchen or hallway. What is really cool though, is the ‘hidden’ message which entertains us geeky types. Grab a fluorescent light – a blacklight will do – and an eery hand print appears, a scrolled note which reads: “WHERE IS DR LAMB?”, and a circle just above Ryan’s head – as if to suggest Lamb has been removed from the picture (Sofia Lamb of course being the main antagonist from BioShock 2). For such a bargain, this is an essential purchase for any fan of the series.
Dear Santa cutie,
Please send to the gamer in me Beyond Two Souls and The Last of Us for the PS3. I absolutely love role playing games and since I am seriously close to beating Skyrim, I really need another role play game to occupy my free time. These games have it all! Action, options to choose your destiny, great graphics, and it looks like the controls are sweet. I just can’t wait to settle in my recliner and power through these. In addition, I would like a Wii U. I’ve had nothing but bad luck trying to reserve the black deluxe console so I know this is one gaming system I won’t get in time for Christmas. Looking forward to playing Zombie U. I don’t know about the other games aside from Mario that will be on the system. But it is a new gaming system that I must add to my collection.
The movie buff in me screams for a bigger screen television. Still did not get that interview with Andy Serkis. So I am still holding out for this wish. Other than what’s mentioned, I am content with what I already have.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays to everyone.
This is a tough one for me. I already got a Wii U and to be honest, if I hadn’t been able to snag one, it would have been top of my list. I was also fortunate enough this year to find a working Virtual Boy (I’m a collector of old consoles), so many of my previous wish list items I’ve already snagged. Call me greedy, but I still want more!
A reason to buy the PS Vita
That’s probably my number one wish. I love games and typically pride myself on staying current and having all the consoles, but so far, I haven’t felt the urge to buy a Vita. Don’t get me wrong, I like what it’s doing, and the potential in it, but I’ve yet to see a game that makes me feel like I HAVE to own one. That’d be nice for Christmas, some sort of announcement that makes me take notice of the platform once again.
For something a little more practical I’ve gone with these Mario Kart R/C racers. I love R/C cars and I enjoy Mario Kart, this seems like an idea that should have happened a long time ago. It’d be something my son and I could do together (he’s not quite able to grasp the controls of a video game yet), and let’s face it…they’re just cool.
These are just a few ideas for gifts for the gamer in your life, be sure to share your own ideas (or even great gifts you’ve received in the past) in the comments below. Happy shopping!
