[UPDATE: CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be backwards compatible with both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 at launch. Furthermore, a later upgrade that takes full advantage of next-gen hardware will be free. The original article continues below…]
Today we received the sad news that Cyberpunk 2077 will suffer yet another delay, pushing the game back to from its already delayed date of September 17th to November 19th. This is sad news to hear since the game is basically done, but studio head Adam Badwoski had this to say…
“At the time we are writing these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise. The quests, the cutscenes,
the skills and items; all the adventures Night City has to offer – it’s all there. But with such an abundance of content and complex
systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of
bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactlv that.”
Now, if that doesn’t put you at ease for what is to come from this game, I don’t know what would. During E3 2019 we saw this game and talked to some of the devs and I can tell you this team only cares about delivering the best game experience out there. With this announcement, does this mean we will see the launch of a PS5 and Xbox Series X version of the game? We shall see, but I can say we can’t wait to see what is in-store for us in NightCity and will be covering the game with livestreams and a review when it releases. The full delay statement can be found below.
