Check out the details on the upcoming zombie slaying adventure.

If you are excited to finally (and we mean finally) get to slaying zombies on Dead Island 2, well get ready to do it with friends. The game releases April 21st and you will be able to tackle most of the campaign with a friend, or two. All the details were released on the official Dead Island 2 site.

The Co-op campaign will be unlocked after you progress to the first major checkpoint in the game. This takes about 20 minutes to get to, maybe less if you speed-run your way there. Every time you pick a new Slayer you will need to complete this portion before unlocking co-op play.

The game does not support cross platform play, but it does support cross gen play. So PS4/PS5, and Xbox One / Series consoles can play together. The interesting note here is that standard last generation players cannot host games, only join. So you’ll need a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X to host games on last generation. Current generation and PC players can host and join anyone.

Players are also restricted to their current progress. You can’t join an end-game host if you are just starting out, as the game progresses with your character. However someone further along in the game can return to a previous level to assist another player. The furthest point you’ve progressed to is saved to that character and you can return to that point at any moment.

And lastly, you will be battling it out with up to 3 players as that seems to be the balance point for keeping the game thrilling for everyone!

Check out our review later this week, and let us know, are you excited for Dead Island 2?
