Sony has announced that the free edition of DriveClub will finally release tomorrow, June 25th! Great news, but there is that catch I mentioned. The game will release in stages due to server issues. They don’t want everyone to jump online at the same time and cause the same problems as when the full game launched.
So with that, everyone will start off with offline modes and Sony will slowly introduce groups of players into online modes.
Sony’s Yoshida mentioned, “To make absolutely certain that all players have the smoothest and most stable experience possible we are going to be duly cautious about how we release the game this time around.”
He goes on to state that Sony doesn’t want to overload the servers as millions of PS Plus members try to get online. DriveClub has a ton of community features which is possibly why the servers have to handle so many things.
The game was originally to be released in 2013, but was delayed almost a full year due to issues and then was plagued with server issues upon release, causing the PS Plus edition to be delayed until now. Both were meant to release alongside each other, with the PS Plus edition being a stripped down version of the game.
With that, are you still going to check the game out tomorrow? Or have you already had your go by now?
