Dune: Awakening Trailer Revealed at Gamescom 2022

During the Opening Night Live presentation at gamescom 2022, Funcom revealed the first trailer for their upcoming Survival MMO set in Frank Herbert’s world, Dune: Awakening.

Funcom has been working on their Dune game for a little bit now, and today, in the second world premiere of gamescom’s Opening Night Live, they’ve finally given us a glimpse. While it’s all pretty much cinematic footage without any real gameplay shown, it’s nonetheless exciting to finally see this revealed:

As a life-long fan of Dune, this trailer is hitting all the right spots. I know MMOs aren’t normally my thing, but I’m going to have to give this one a shot. I mean, a survival game set on Arrakis seems like a perfect combination, and I’m hoping we won’t have to wait much longer to see even more of it.

Rise from survival to dominance in a vast and seamless Arrakis shared by thousands of players. Dune: Awakening combines the grit and creativity of survival games with the social interactivity of large, persistent multiplayer games to create a unique and ambitious Open World Survival MMO.

No release date set just yet, but you can Wishlist Dune: Awakening on Steam right now and sign up for the beta.
