EA revealed that Respawn is working on ” all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe.”
EA also included a list of studios that are currently working on a Star Wars related title which include Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, Motive and more.
EA dove into a little more detail on the EA Blog, including openings for jobs at both Visceral and Motive for their respective games. Other than that there isn’t much more to know other than Respawn Entertainment and EA are very excited about the adventure.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Vince Zampella and his group. Their obsession with making games that feel amazing has helped make Titanfall one of the most successful new game launches of this generation. And now, with a new team led by Stig Asmussen, we get to see what they can do when you combine that great attention to gameplay with the power of Star Wars.
Respawn’s Vince Zampella followed up with similar statements on their own blog, again reiterating that the game will be a third person adventure. Though they insist there will be a twist to it to make the game original.
Respawn is of course the developers of Titanfall and Titanfall 2 is expected at this years E3, with a release date of later this year. So we assume the new Star Wars title is quite a bit ways out there and other studio’s will demonstrate their game first. Respawn was created by employees that left Activision’s Infinity Ward (developers of Call of Duty 4), and are a 2nd party to EA.
