By all accounts, Star Wars Battlefront II has been a colossal disappointment for Electronic Arts. For months, EA had been building gamers’ hopes up, saying that Battlefront II would fix everything people disliked about Battlefront I and that all DLC would be free. However, they neglected to share the important detail of excessive microtransactions and credits needed to unlock beloved characters. Fan uproar has been so severe to the reputation of Battlefront II that it has caused EA to lose about $3 billion in stock and has even reached city officials across the globe to ban “loot boxes”.
Nevertheless, EA isn’t ready to throw in the towel on Star Wars Battlefront II. Instead, they’re once again reformatting the credit system to help appease many gamers who have felt wronged by the massive gaming company.
Below are the changes being made:
- The end-of-round payout has been increased.
- Earn 3X more Credits daily in Arcade Mode.
- Daily Login Crates will now provide three times more crafting parts than before.
EA says that this will be just the beginning and that more changes are coming. Whether or not that helps the company salvage their tarnished reputation remains to be seen, but it’s clear that they aren’t ready to give up on it yet. Especially since this is the second time in a few short years that they’ve attempted to create a Star Wars game that resulted in more loss than gain.
