EA Sports announced today that players will soon be able to test cross-platform play in FIFA 22.

Developers said players will be testing the cross-play in Online Seasons and Online Friendlies on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions of the game.

“While we want to enable our players to play with as many friends and others as possible, we limited the test to these two modes with the aim of reducing the chance for introducing new issues into the game. We are confident that the game data and feedback that we get from these two modes will help inform how Cross-play could further be implemented in future titles,” developers wrote in the blog post.

Developers did not give a date the testing would begin, but said that it will be available “in the near future.” News of the test going live will be shared in-game on the FIFA Direct Communication Twitter account.
