Two of Futbol’s hottest players will now be featured on two different versions of FIFA 20, this September! More within…
After incredible campaigns in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, EA Sports couldn’t just pick one person to grace the cover of FIFA 20. So, they picked two. Real Madrid Midfielder Eden Hazard and Liverpool FC Defender Virgil van Dijk.
The former Chelsea Midfielder, Hazard, earned the cover of the Standard Edition of FIFA 20 by making a remarkable 48 goals for his Premier League club, last season. Since then, Hazard has moved over to Real Madrid, which is why he’s donning the iconic blue and gold crest.
While midfielders and forwards get most of the accolades, EA Sports is bucking that trend by recognizing the incredible season had by Liverpool‘s Dutch Defender Virgil van Dijk. With only 4 goals, casual Futbol fans may scoff at this pick, but van Dijk was vital to the success of Liverpool this season. A season that saw the club win one of the top prizes, The UEFA Champions League. In honor of that accomplishment, Virgil van Dijk will now become the cover athlete for the Champions Edition of FIFA 20, and rightfully so.
Here’s what the two had to say about their selections:
- “EA SPORTS FIFA is the biggest Football game on the planet, and I have been playing it for years against my brothers,” said Eden Hazard. “I am lucky to have been on the cover before but to be on FIFA 20 globally is amazing and I hope to excite as many gamers as I do when I take the field for Real Madrid this season!”
- “It is a huge honour for me to be on the cover of FIFA 20“ said Virgil van Dijk. “I’ve been playing FIFA for as long as I can remember, and so it’s an extremely proud moment for me to be representing Liverpool FC on the cover of such an iconic game“.
FIFA 20 releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC on September 27, 2019. Champions Edition owners can play on September 24, 2019.
