Ubisoft‘s attempt at creating a snow sports game unlike any other has led them to Steep. This open-world challenge-based game is Ubisoft’s answer to games like 1998’s 1080 Snowboarding, but as you can see from the instructional video above, it’s much more than that.
Steep holds a few other extreme snow sports than just Snowboarding. Ubisoft created the game to allow gamers to experience such thrills as skiing, parachuting, and even base jumping from the warmth of their own home. While gamers experience these thrills, they can also enjoy the incredible landscape of the Alps, along with challenging friends to extreme tricks.
Steep’s sports establish a never seen before freedom to explore the game’s open world, allowing players to choose the way they ride and play. Riders can travel the Alps solo or drop in side-by-side with friends and other riders to discover a wide range of activities for them to put their skills to the test, compete and share the most insane tricks and trails ever captured on the slopes. Designed for a generation that’s all about sharing their experiences with the world, Steep encourages players to challenge their friends to see who truly comes out on top of the world.
It’s hard to say whether or not Ubisoft’s Steep will pay off or if it’ll have the longevity they hope for. No matter the outcome, the environment they’ve created is still one they should be extremely proud of, even if isn’t one of their normal story-based games.
Steep arrives December 2, 2016 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The Open Beta starts up on November 18 to November 21!
