‘Final Fantasy VII’ Battle Royale Game ‘The First Soldier’ Shutting Down Early 2023

Square Enix has announced, via their website and social media accounts, that their Final Fantasy VII mobile battle royale game, The First Soldier, is ending next year.

The news comes as a bit of a shock, as the game was launch in November 2021. Within that time, Square Enix rolled out several seasons that introduced new and classic Final Fantasy items, summons, classes, and skins, similar to that of other battle royale games. Square Enix even made it a point to include the mobile game in almost every presentation. Yet, it appears the game wasn’t able to continue, regardless.

Despite the unfortunate news, Final Fantasy fans still have plenty to look forward to with  Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion releasing in December, Final Fantasy 16 releasing next summer, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launching next winter.
