Indie publisher Modus Games and developer eXiin released a new trailer and tentative release date for the incredibly charming Ary and the Secret of Seasons.
I got to sit with developers during E3 last year to witness some of protagonist Aryelle’s quest to journey across her home land of Valdi as the Guardian of Winter, gaining the ability to control the seasons and use them to defeat enemies, overcome obstacles, and solve complex puzzles.
The trailer released today showcases Ary’s ability to influence her surroundings by conjuring miniature seasonal biomes of spring, summer, autumn, and winter and how this skill proves invaluable in her quest, allowing her to uncover secrets, slip aside once-impassable obstacles, and gain crucial advantages in battle.
“Long ago, the world of Valdi was threatened by an evil mage. After a great struggle, he was defeated by the Legendary Warrior and sealed inside the Vault, imprisoned for all eternity. To ensure the mage’s imprisonment, four great sages swore to keep watch and protect the Vault. They formed the original Guardians of Seasons, a secretive organization now steeped in history and legend.
After a mysterious force throws the seasons of Valdi into disarray, Ary decides to assist the Guardians of Seasons and sets out to find the source of the mayhem. Using her wits and courage, Ary will have to overcome monstrous enemies, secret plots, and stuffy traditions to save Valdi and bring balance to the world once more.”
Using Ary’s abilities, players will traverse dynamic landscapes and fighting enemies while solving environmental puzzles to progress, bending the world and seasons to her needs.
Ary and the Secret of Seasons is launching sometime this summer on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
