Horizon Getting Story Expansion Amid Selling 2.6 Million Units

Sony announced today that Horizon: Zero Dawn, their latest exclusive for PS4, has sold 2.6 million units in the first two weeks it has been on the market. This number, according to Sony, is product “sold through to consumers” via retail and digital platforms.

This is the biggest new IP exclusive for PS4 so far, and the biggest release for Guerrilla Games. GG made the Killzone series so it seems even those games have been topped.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shawn Layden said in a statement, “Guerrilla has created a game that is nothing short of exceptional, and the reaction we have seen from fans–from hours and hours of gameplay streaming to endless photo sharing–shows just how impactful it has been.”

Horizon released on February 28th and has been met with both positive fan reviews, and positive critic reviews. We personally gave the game a 4.5 out of 5, and nearly gave it a perfect score. The developers have noted that the positive reaction to the game has been amazing and with all the excitement they noted that an expansion is coming. So far we know the expansion will extend the story, but we don’t have further details on when or where to expect to see anything more. Our best guess is some type of E3 presentation in June.
