Horizon Zero Dawn Gets a Gorgeous New Trailer and Official 2017 Release Date

With E3 next week, game studios are already bringing some news ahead of the big show.  This morning already saw the announcement of Final Fantasy XII getting an HD remake, and now we have official word on Horizon Zero Dawn‘s release date.  It’ll be coming February 28, 2017.  While it confirms the delay we heard about a while ago (and mentioned on our Road to E3 video), it’s nice to have a solid date in place to mark on our calendars.

The announcement itself comes courtesy of an amazing new trailer that gives us more insight into the lead character (Aloy), her journey, and the overall story we’ll encounter.

Time and time again this video game continues to impress.  Visually I love the look of the wilderness and technology creatures roaming around.  The odd juxtaposition works exceedling well and manages to tell a story on its own, while begging for exploration.  Aloy herself looks interesting as a character and I’m eager to see what her backstory holds for us.  While I was eager to play the game this year, the delay into 2017 isn’t that bad.  We’ll still be playing it in a matter of months and it’ll look more gorgeous than ever.  The devs had this to say about it:

It wasn’t an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it. However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.

We realize that this decision may not please everyone. At the same time, we’re confident that the advantages of the additional development time afforded by the new date will become clear in the coming months, as we start to share more cool details and videos from Horizon Zero Dawn. We really, really appreciate your patience and continued support, and look forward to bringing you the best game we possibly can in February 2017.

Game delays are inevitable and more often than not, make for a better final product.  Let’s just hope fans are more accepting of this and won’t be sending in any death threats over it.  What do you guys think of the new Horizon Zero Dawn trailer?

Be sure to stay tuned to Cinelinx all next week as we’ll be reporting live from the E3 show floor once again, and will bring you all the latest news and impressions!
