Star Trek fans! An update is coming to Star Trek Online. It’s called Rise of Discovery and will give some much-needed context to the breakout CBS All Access series, Star Trek Discovery. More within…
For quite some time now, Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have enjoyed an unprecedentedly successful run with Star Trek Online. Part of the reason why the Free-to-Play MMO has lasted for over 9 years is because of frequent updates. The latest, of which, will arrive in a couple of weeks, focusing on the story of two fascinating characters from CBS All Access’ Star Trek Discovery, Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) and Commander Ellen Landry (Rekha Sharma).
No, your ears did not deceive you, those were the voices of Jason Isaacs and Rekha Sharma reprising their roles for Star Trek Online in the latest update “Rise of Discovery“. The update will release on May 14, 2019 and feature the following story:
After the first season of Star Trek: Discovery drew to an exciting close, many fans were left with unanswered questions about Gabriel Lorca. Star Trek Online players can now uncover the truth behind the Federation captain’s past through the eyes of his trusted commanding officer, Ellen Landry. Rise of Discovery takes place when both Lorca and Landry were assigned to the U.S.S. Buran, before they beamed aboard the U.S.S. Discovery. Players answer a distress call from the Federation starship after it sustains heavy damage from Klingon forces, led by J’Ula, the matriarch of House Mo’Kai. The attack leaves its sole survivor, Captain Lorca, stranded on a desolate ice moon littered with Klingon search parties. His fate now lies in the hand of Star Trek Online players, who must team up with Commander Landry to ensure his survival.
In addition to these two new episodes, Rise of Discovery will also include the removal of the pesky level cap on Tier 6 Starships. This will allow players of any level to captain these powerful ships.
Star Trek Online: Rise of Discovery arrives on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on May 14, 2019.
