Square Enix and Disney took the stage during, Paris Games Week, to talk about a Kingdom Hearts release! No, not Kingdom Hearts III. It’s the second best thing. In preparation for the 3rd game of the Kingdom Hearts series being released, the collaboration will be releasing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 ReMIX, a compilation of every Kingdom Hearts game, previously released on PS2 and Nintendo‘s handheld family. The compilation will be all on one disc and exclusively on Playstation 4.
The games included are:
KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMix
- KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
- KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days (HD remastered cinematics)
KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX
- KINGDOM HEARTS Re:coded
The release of these on console is something that the public has clamored for, almost as much as the cries for Kingdom Hearts III. After Kingdom Hearts II, Square Enix and Disney spent about a decade creating these side games that provided much needed backstory. However, they were solely on handheld so most fans never got a chance to play them. Now, this is their chance to catch up before Kingdom Hearts III eventual release.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 ReMIX will be available on PS4 on March 28, 2017.
The final prequel will arrive a couple of months before that on January 24, 2017 on PS4. Check out the opening movie for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, below!
The fact remains that all these games are simply bridge games until KH III makes its triumphant debut. A debut that still doesn’t have a release date. Although, with these releases, we can safely assume that sometime in 2017 it will finally be released.
