Just over a month ago, Square Enix released a remaster for the classic 8th installment in the beloved Final Fantasy series. While fans old and new have been enjoying Final Fantasy VIII Remastered on all consoles available, it brought up even more nostalgia and memories for the folks directly involved with its creation.

In a new Inside Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Developer Featurette, Director Yoshinori Kitase, Producer Shinji Hashimoto, and Art Director Yusuke Naora explain the process of developing Final Fantasy VIII and all of their motivations and favorite memories about the game.

This video is a must-watch for every Final Fantasy fan and even just video game fans, in general. It delivers a ton of insight into the process of developing a critically-acclaimed video game, like FFVIII. For instance, who knew that the initial basis behind the game was The Wizard of Oz or that the only reason the city of Esthar was mostly transparent was because Naora-san was going through a see-through phase.
