While I’m still not entirely sure if Mega-Evolutions are a good thing for Pokemon games (they seemed to make things too easy in X & Y), but if there’s one thing I know…it’s that they look really damn cool. The latest pokemon to get the Mega treatment is Rayquaza, the Dragon-based legendary who will be popping up in the new games:
Today the mysteries of Mega Evolution deepened when The Pokémon Company International revealed that Rayquaza, the third Legendary Pokémon of the Hoenn region, can Mega Evolve in the Pokémon Omega Ruby andPokémon Alpha Sapphire video games! Rayquaza is an incredibly powerful Dragon- and Flying-type Pokémon, standing equal to Legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre. A brand new trailer of Mega Rayquaza in battle was released today from The Pokémon Company International.
In battle, Mega Rayquaza’s skills are sure to wreak havoc on an opponent’s strategy with its Delta Stream Ability. Powerful moves like Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Sandstorm, and Hail will fail in the face of strong winds whipped up by Mega Rayquaza, whilst Abilities like Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream, and Snow Warning will not even activate. In addition, moves of a type to which Flying-type Pokémon are usually susceptible will only deal normal damage.
Get ready to battle with Mega Rayquaza when Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire launch November 21!
What do you guys think about his Mega appearance? What’s your stance on the Mega Evolution in general?
