Since it’s initial reveal back in August of last year, Metal Gear Survive has met with little more than scorn from fans. The very public and decidely petty actions on the part of Konami after splitting with Hideo Kojima has left fans sour on the company. With Metal Gear Survive putting the emphasis on team-based building/survival against zombie like enemies (rather than traditional Metal Gear gameplay and story), fans were less than thrilled.
Every trailer since hasn’t exactly helped the feeling, but it does look less and less like a quick cash-in on the brand name and more like a game doing something unique and actually trying. Regardless, it’s still going to be a tough sell for Metal Gear fans, but if you’re curious enough, the game now has a release date of February 20, 2018. Moreso, if you pre-order there’s a handful of goodies to acquire:
4 gold plated weapons: Bat, Sledgehammer, Survival Machete and Survival Spear
4 metallic coloured survival scarves: Green, Blue, Pink and Silver
2 gestures: “Thumbs Up” and “Happy”
Mother Base nameplate
“BOXMAN [THE ORANGE]” accessory
“Kabuki” face paint
I’m happy to admit that my love of the Metal Gear franchise is most definitely coloring my outlook on Survive. After all that’s happened with Konami, it’s hard to want to give this game a chance, and I know there’s a large group of gamers out there in the same group. Will you be giving Metal Gear Survive a chance next year?
