When Sony revealed Hideo Kojima and his new game, Death Stranding, during their E3 2016 Press Conference, we saw a naked Norman Reedus holding a baby, surrounded by death, and being approached by five levitating beings. Pretty straight-forward, right? Well, to open The Game Awards 2016, the ceremony started by honoring Kojima’s accomplishments in gaming. Kojima didn’t show up empty-handed, though. He brought another trailer with him.
If anyone has any idea what’s going on in this game, please tell us in the comment section, because we can’t figure it out. Death Stranding may be the most random, unnerving mainstream game ever conceived, which makes sense for Kojima’s first game from Kojima Productions. Just when we think we might have an idea about the game, we see an old man use a jarred baby to protect himself from insidious darkness. Then, to make it even stranger, we also see Mads Mikkelson controlling a group of troops, by body-tether, to attack the old man.
Whatever the plot or gameplay for Death Stranding may be, one thing is certain. Hideo Kojima has our attention and we’ll do whatever it takes to play this game.
No official release date has been announced for Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding.
