Like I said, Microsoft posted a thank you to loyal fans earlier today on their website; where they also announced that more than 3 million Xbox One’s have already been sold. The thing that had gamers curious, however, is this list of upcoming 2014 games they mentioned towards the end:
We’re excited for the year ahead and will be working hard to bring Xbox One to more fans and more markets around the globe. 2014 will be a promising year with many more great games on the way for Xbox One including “Titanfall,” “Watch_Dogs,” “Project Spark,” “Sunset Overdrive,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” “Destiny,” “Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare,” and “The Elder Scrolls Online,” among others. More games, more features, more content, more fun – all coming your way this year.
What’s missing here? Halo, of course! Halo 4 released back in 2012 and many feel the game revitalized the franchise and pushed it forward. Aside from a quick teaser for the next Halo during E3 2013 we haven’t heard much else about the game, so it wasn’t surprising that many assumed it’s omission from the list meant we wouldn’t see it this year. Rob Semsey, PR manager for the Halo franchise took to his Twitter to allay fears and explain it’s absence:
Xbox Wire today mentioned a few 2014 titles; Halo on Xbox One not listed due to official name of the next title not announced yet.

Hmmm….interesting. So I guess this means it won’t be called Halo 5 (which would be the obvious title). It makes me wonder if this will be another spin-off of some sort, but seeing as how Master Chief was front and center in the game’s only trailer so far, that seems out of the question. Perhaps it’ll have a subtitle of some sort. Regardless, you can rest easy knowing the game is coming out sometime this year.
Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014. #staycalm
