Microsoft Unveils the Sea of Thieves Xbox One S Bundle

As they typically do when a new marquee game releases exclusively on Xbox One, Microsoft has released a new bundle for the Xbox One S.  However, their latest bundle doesn’t include any old game, it includes Rare‘s seemingly never-ending pirate-inspired multiplayer epic Sea of Thieves, one of our Most Anticipated Games of 2018!

On March 20, 2018 for just $299.99, you can nab an Xbox One S, along with a full-game download of Sea of Thieves, but that’s not the jist of what’s included in this bundle…below is the full breakdown.

  • An Xbox One S with a 1TB hard drive, Xbox Wireless Controller, a built-in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, support for 4K video streaming, High Dynamic Range and premium audio with Dolby Atmos
  • A full-game download of Sea of Thieves, allowing you to dive into the game’s shared-world on release day exclusively on Xbox One. Form a crew and take to the open ocean on voyages to discover buried treasure, solve puzzling riddles, secure precious cargo and combat a wide array of challenges. In a world where every sail signals a ship crewed by real players with unique goals and motivations, you never know what lies over the horizon.
  • A 1-month Xbox Live Gold subscription.
  • A 1-month Xbox Game Pass trial so you can discover over 100 Xbox One games with unlimited across three generations of consoles. Xbox Game Pass members will also receive access to new games from Microsoft Studios like State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 on the same date as their global launch.

While this bundle does include a lot attractive features, it seems like a missed opportunity to not decal the Xbox One S in Sea of Thieves artwork.  Furthermore, if you want the customized controller, you still have to pay a whopping $74.99.  In the end, it’s not a huge deal, because you’ll still be able to experience a pirate’s life of pillaging, singing, and sailing the high seas, but they would’ve been added bonuses that could’ve generated more sales.

Sea of Thieves sets sail on March 20, 2018 for $59.99 for Xbox One and PC owners or for $9.99 with Xbox Game Pass.  For those who don’t own an Xbox One, the Sea of Thieves Xbox One S Bundle runs for about $299.99.  To read more on the announcement, click here for the Xbox Blog.
