New 14-Minute Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Deep Dive Previews Tons of New Ways to Play

A 14-minute deep dive trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has been released, uncovering an expansive world ripe with refreshing new features. Features that long-time Pokemon fans have been wanting for years.

Every big journey begins with a single step! 🌄 Take a peek at some of the adventure you’ll find through the open world of Paldea! Where will you go? What will you discover? Find your treasure in your own journey in Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet, available 11/18!

The Pokemon franchise has been with us for a VERY long time. In that time, the series has tried to evolve as much their Pokemon do, but every game at their core has been mostly the same, “Catch Pokemon, Win Badges”. While Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet include these same tried and true elements, it includes something that the others really haven’t…choice.

The overview trailer explains that we’re a member of an Academy in the Paldea region on a sort of “Treasure Hunt”, though they didn’t explain what that was. Part of me feels like it’ll be logging every Pokemon in the Pokedex. Nevertheless, you’re thrust into a seemingly-vast open-world where you can decide how your adventure will unfold. I love this concept, because not everyone plays this game to battle. Some play to explore, catch, take pictures, and so on.

The deep dive trailer also revealed the following new elements:

  • Terastellize – An elemental power-up of sorts
  • “Let’s Go” Automated Pokemon battles with the lead Pokemon
  • Fetching items with Pokemon
  • “Let’s Go” Gauntlet Battles
  • Jigglypuff vs a Tank
  • TM Machines
  • Titan Pokemon Battles (I hope we can catch Titan Pokemon)
  • Farigiraf the evolved form of Girafarig
  • Updated Pokedex entries
  • Gym Tests and Battles (the Sunflora looked a bit off)
  • Selfies
  • More Customization options for Trainers
  • Picnics, featuring cooking and finding Pokemon eggs
  • Tera Raid Battles

When you have 14 minutes, you should really watch this video if you’re even remotely interested in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It had this Pokemon fan very excited for all the new features. It just feels very refreshing.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet launch on Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
