New NBA 2K19 ‘Take the Crown’ Trailer Shows Gameplay of Old Faces in New Places

To say that the NBA offseason is one of the most entertaining times in sports is an understatement, to say the least.  The fluid rate at which players move from team to team, via free agency and trades, is mind-bending and fun to watch.  This year’s offseason included a blockbuster, yet controversial, trade of Kawhi Leonard for DeMar DeRozan, the Warriors getting Boogie, and LA becoming the newest throne for The King.  All this movement must’ve kept 2K Games on their toes, but today’s trailer shows they’re up to the challenge!

The latest NBA 2K19 trailer “Take the Crown” features music from Jay Rock.

Initial thoughts of the gameplay are that the facial recognition is astounding.  It’s clear that 2K took the time to craft each face to the exact specifications of the real-life NBA player, and the result is applaud-worthy.  Unlike other sports games, like football and hockey, there isn’t anything to cover their face, so 2K had a much loftier task.  Fortunately, it looks like they’ve succeeded at it.

The NBA 2K19 Standard Edition will be available on September 11, 2018. The 20th Anniversary Edition (pictured) will be available on September 7, 2018. Pre-orders for both editions are available now, here.
