New Steep Trailer Shows Off Tricks From the GoPro’s POV

This trailer for Ubisoft‘s Steep is short in length but it more than makes up for it with pretty righteous camera shots.  One of Steep’s selling points is their partnership with the camera giant, GoPro.  Using their technology, they tried to create a sports game that uses realistic shots, like if it came from a GoPro.  Today’s trailer interlays those shots with the other piece of tech, in your arsenal, the drone.

STEEP drops you into the massive open world of the Alps. Shred fresh powder on a snowboard or skis, and soar through the air in wingsuit or paraglide. STEEP is also partnering with GoPro to bring you new ways to experience the Alps and showcase your amazing stunts. Feel the gut-wrenching thrill of speeding down the mountain in first-person using GoPro’s Hero5 helmet camera. Or get a bird’s eye view with the brand new GoPro Karma drone. Record your unforgettable moments with style and share them with your friends.

Steep’s sports establish a never seen before freedom to explore the game’s open world, allowing players to choose the way they ride and play. Riders can travel the Alps solo or drop in side-by-side with friends and other riders to discover a wide range of activities for them to put their skills to the test, compete and share the most insane tricks and trails ever captured on the slopes. Designed for a generation that’s all about sharing their experiences with the world, Steep encourages players to challenge their friends to see who truly comes out on top of the world.

There are questions about Steep’s longevity and if it can keep gamer’s interests.  Ubisoft hopes that new challenges, customizing, sharing, and speechless views will do the trick.  We’ll see if it ends up working for them.  When I tried it out at E3 2016, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  It was gorgeous, fun, tricky, and exciting to play through.  All these qualities were the reason it was nominated for Cinelinx Best of E3 Award.  

Steep will be available December 2, 2016.
