New Nintendo Game Release Dates Revealed

In my previous article, I broke down the release of the brand new Nintendo 3DS XL. However, that wasn’t the only news our friends at Nintendo wished to share.  They also released new game release dates for some of the most highly anticipated games.  That’s not all though, they also announced when we’ll be seeing updates for games that have already come out.  So without further ado, let’s dive right into them!

February 5th

  • Hyrule Warriors DLC: In anticipation for the release of Majora’s Mask 3D for the Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo is releasing a new DLC called the “Majora’s Mask Pack”.  You’ll be able to play as Young Link and…Tingle… Plus, a new Adventure Mode map and costumes.  This will cost $7.99 in the Nintendo Shop on Wii U.

February 13th

  • Nintendo 3DS XL: With new features, buttons, and processing power this system may be the hottest item to come out on February 13th.  You can get one for $199.99 or $229.99 for more information CLICK HERE!
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D: What else can we be but excited for this game?  This was arguably one of the best Zelda games to ever be made and it’s now releasing in higher definition and in 3D!  Plus, as an added bonus, you can even have a personalized Majora’s Mask styled 3DS XL!
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: On February 13th, you can get Monster Hunter 4 for your 3DS.  What’s more is that you can also get a Monster Hunter designed Nintendo 3DS XL with the game if buy the bundle exclusively at Gamestop.
  • Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy: Bandai Namco releases its latest Ace Combat game this February.  This time, they’ve added functionality to the new controls the new Nintendo 3DS XL will be bringing.  Plus, true to Nintendo form, you can tap an amiibo on the new screen to unlock new aircraft skins!

February 20th

  • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse: Do you remember those old school clay-mation games?  Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a nod to that old way of graphics.  Follow Kirby as he follows a rainbow brush (you) trying to bring back the color to a now black and white world.  What’s different about this game is that you can use Kirby, King Dedede, or Meta Knight amiibos to power up Kirby and save the world.  This is available on Feb. 20th on Wii U.

February TBA

  • Pokemon Shuffle: Have you ever thought, “I like candy crush but I’d like it more if it were with Pokemon?” Yeah me neither but the team at Nintendo sure found a way to do it!  In this Free-to-Play game, players match three of the same pokemon in order to defeat wild pokemon you encounter in the game.  This will be available for download using Nintendo eShop on the 3DS.
  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS amiibo Compatibility: Sometime in February, there will be an update for Super Smash Bros. allowing the amiibo function, on the game.  There will eventually be an adapter for older models of the 3DS, however that is yet to be announced.

March 20th

  • Mario Party 10: I’ve loved the Mario Party series since it’s first incarnation.  I remember going to my friend’s house and bugging them every time with requests to play Mario Party.  So when I saw this trailer you can imagine my excitment for this upcoming game.  It seems in this latest version, Bowser is having a LOT more fun torturing the party guests.  With tons of new challenging games and creative worlds, Mario Party 10 looks to bring the party back to the Wii U.  Now of course, they have added an amiibo function.  This will take your amiibo to a level themed to the amiibo.  However, one downside is that it looks like you’re playing as the amiibo piece and not the character.  If you don’t care about that then party on gamer!
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: The only new update for this game will be for amiibo use adding a new challenge in finding the Pixel Toad.
  • Fossil Fighters Frontier: Back to 3DS games, Fossil Fighters: Frontier!  I think the only tag line you need for this game is, Want to Fight Dinosaurs?  The answer will always be an emphatic yes!

March TBA

  • Story of the Seasons: A farming game where players can interact with other lands and players across the internet.
  • Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.: Abraham Lincoln is at it again, but this time, he’s fighting aliens!  In this steam punk inspired game, players can use Fire Emblem amiibos to help them in their quest to save the world from a dangerous alien invasion or they can play as in game characters.  Your choice.

April TBA

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3D: This remake, of the Wii game, is being brought back for the New Nintendo 3DS XL.  With the addition of 3D visuals, a bonus mode with music tracks, Nintendo is hoping this handheld game brings players back to the nostalgic feeling they felt playing it on the Wii, way back when.

May TBA

  • Puzzle & Dragons Z/Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition: This game combines Candy Crush with an RPG.  You must match the shapes to commit damage to your opponents.  It’s a pretty cool idea that caught fire in Japan.  Nintendo is hoping to catch that same fire in the US with a new Super Mario Bros. Edition featuring characters and worlds from the series.
  • Splatoon: This messy multiplayer shooter is about character who have the ability to turn into squid and paint the world they’re fighting in.  The object of the game? Make everything your color so you control most of the game.  Oh and of course shoot up your friends!

TBA

  • Etrian Mystery Dungeon: This game will allow players to go on an epic quest to find loot with a party of heroes of their own choosing.  This is a combination of Etrian Odyssey and Mystery Dungeon and is only available on Nintendo 3DS.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X: This Wii U game is a true to form open world RPG where players can go anywhere, whenever they want.  In watching this trailer, it was amazing to see such a beautiful diverse world in one trailer.  It reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy, however, the facial features weren’t really anything to write home about.  Although with an unannounced release date, that may be something they’re trying to fix.

So that’s it!  As you can see, Nintendo has a busy year in store.  Plus, with other games like the latest Legend of Zelda still under wraps, they could have a lot more news coming through the pipeline soon!  So be sure to keep checking back here!
