For years, Nintendo has been the leader in handheld gameplay from the Gameboy to the SP to the 3DS. They devote a lot of resources to develop, grow and cultivate one of their strongest products. As a result, it seems like every other year they’re coming out with a new version of the handheld system. Well, 2015 will be no different!
On February 13, 2015, Nintendo will be releasing an all new version of their Nintendo 3DS XL handheld system.
While there isn’t some fancy new name for this generation, Nintendo is promising some new, enticing features. For instance, the Nintendo 3DS XL will now have a few more buttons in ZL/ZR and even a C Stick. The addition of a C stick is a relatively new concept that Nintendo promises to give gamers more enhanced controls. From demonstrations I’ve seen, with the C stick acting as a viewing option, this addition may make the Nintendo 3DS XL a little closer to becoming a console controller.
Another addition is the upgrade in their 3D tech. Nintendo is promising a more stable 3D experience with the installment of their face-tracking technology. That isn’t to say they are creating 3D images of you within the system. However, it does mean that this system will allow gamers to move the 3DS in different angles and still enjoy the 3D quality.
The next new feature on the Nintendo 3DS XL is the addition of NFC functionality, allowing gamers to use Nintendo’s latest hit product the amiibos. By simply placing it on the bottom screen, it will allow gamers access to all their amiibo stats attributes and even play with them certain games.
Along with all of these additions is the promise of faster web surfing, downloads, and even processing power than any of the generations before!
The New Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in 4 different styles at launch. There will be the generic “New Red”, “New Black”. However, if you buy the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate edition, exclusively at GameStop, you can get a Monster Hunter 4 themed 3DS. The last one, and my personal favorite, is the 3DS XL that will feature artwork inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D. I can’t imagine that supplies will last long with that version!
The New Nintendo 3DS XL will be released on February 13, 2015 for $199.99 and $229.99.
