Onimusha: Warlords Gets The Remastered Treatment

If you’re looking for some old-school feudal action (especially as we wait for games like Sekiro and Ghosts of Tsushima), then you’re in luck. Capcom is giving the first Onimusha game (which originally arrived in 2001) a remaster. All the sword fighting action will feature updated HD graphics, widescreen display, and updated control schemes that allow for analog stick support (should give you an idea how old this game is).

If you want to enjoy the classic experience, however, you can change the settings for the original control scheme. For those of you (myself include) who remember getting your ass handed to you regularly by the game, it will also feature an “easy mode.” Onimusha: Warlords will launch January 15, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch (thankfully) for only $19.95.

Onimusha: Warlords follows the battle-filled journey of samurai Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede on a quest to save Princess Yuki from a legion of mysterious demons who have invaded Inabayama Castle. As the two travel throughout the castle, they unravel a malevolent plot by those who would serve the evil lord Nobunaga Oda. Using sword-based combat, a magical Oni Gauntlet and puzzle solving, players need to call on both brawn and creativity to defeat the demonic foes.

Will you be picking this up in January?
