The year is 2046 and mankind’s discovery of near-light speed “fold engine” propulsion has empowered mankind’s Osiris expeditionary missions to the Gliese 581 system. Players are part of the second colonization team sent by the U.N.E. (United Nations of Earth) to study potential habitable planets when the spacecraft malfunctions braking violently from light speed, forcing an emergency landing on the planet’s surface.
Players must overcome the dangers of unpredictable weather conditions by building a central base, expanding the structure further with modular units to grow food, create research centers, manufacture bays and more. To further advance technologies and thrive on the planet, they will traverse into a world filled equally with breathtaking landscapes and alien terrors that will freeze human blood.
Osiris: New Dawn is a Sci-Fi Survival open-universe MMO which at first glance Osiris looks very much like another game (that will not be mentioned), but this game is so much more. Watching the video it looks like it contains some elements of The Martian, Lost in Space, & Pitch Black.
The other thing that caught my eye was the detail of buildings, landscapes, your space suit, oh yeah and those things skittering around in the dark cave. So if you’re looking for a Sci-Fi game with awesome visuals and gameplay, this may be the game for you. If anything it appears they’re giving you what another game promised, but failed to deliver on.
Osiris: New Dawn is a project from Brian McRae, founder of Fenix Fire, & a 15 year industry veteran working for such companies as Double Helix, Midway, and Blizzard. Osiris: New Dawn is the winner of Pax West Best Survival Game & Pax West Best Indie Game.
So the only question I have for you now is: Will you hold out for the console version of the game or get the jump on all your friends and pick it up on the 28th on Steam?
