PAX East: Capcom Bringing DuckTales Back This Summer

Gamers who grew up with the NES undoubtedly remember DuckTales and have some fond memories of it.  It featured solid platforming mechanics and a soundtrack that continues to make top lists to this very day.  There’s a lot of nostalgia behind it and to be honest, I’m kind of amazed it’s taken this long for it to get an HD upgrade.

DuckTales Remastered will be a remake, of sorts, of the original NES game, with completely overhauled animations and some additions to the gameplay.  Some characters who only received cameos in the original will also be making bigger appearances.  The game is currently set to release this Summer for the PSN, XBLA, and Wii U.  Below we’ve got a comparison shot from the original to the new version plus the game’s new trailer, but be sure to head over to Capcom’s site more screenshots in their gallery.

Duck Tales then and now

So are you excited to see this blast from the past return?  Frankly, I can’t freaking wait.  I’ve been hoping for some sort of remaster of this game for a while, since it remains one of my favorite games on the NES.  With great platforming and a very large cult following behind it, I’m really shocked it’s taken Capcom this long to get it going.  At least we won’t have to wait long!
