Needless to say this has been Sony’s week for VR debuts. Earlier in the week, we mentioned that the Playstation VR would be $399.99. This is a vast difference from Oculus’ massive price. Since the announcement, many gamers have been torn over which they’d rather have. The overpriced but higher quality Oculus or the latest piece of Sony gear that, while underpriced and full of potential, may go the way of the Vita.
Sony is looking to change that narrative with the new bundle they’re offering up for the Playstation VR. Here’s what you get with the bundle:
- PS VR headset
- PS VR cables
- Stereo Headphones
- PlayStation VR Demo Disc
- PlayStation Camera
- 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers
- PlayStation VR Worlds (disc)
If you don’t know anything about VR Worlds, we have you covered.
VR Worlds is more of a tutorial game that will put gamers through five different VR experiences, that will ultimately get them acclimated to the VR game style.
So, how much is this bundle and when will it be available for pre-order?
“Starting at 7:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, March 22nd, pre-orders will open for the PlayStation VR Launch Bundle at participating retailers. Exclusively for pre-sale and in limited quantities”
That quote comes from the Playstation Blog, where they also announced the bundle price of being $499.99 US.
You get a lot with the launch bundle and at a drastically lower price than Oculus. This all may sway gamers on the fence to go with the more cost-effective product in the PS VR. However, it could also lead to a decrease in price for Oculus.
