Pokémon Sleep is Real and Coming This Summer

Years after it’s initial reveal, today’s Pokémon Presents finally brought an update (and details) on the Pokémon Sleep app/game, along with a new accessory.

It’s wild to think Pokémon Sleep was revealed back in 2019, with almost no details aside from a vague planned launched in 2020. Since then…nothing. Between multiple Pokémon showcases or Nintendo Directs, there hasn’t been a mention, so many began to feel the mobile title was quietly cancelled.

But this morning’s Pokémon Presents, celebrating 2023’s Pokémon Day, we finally have new information on the upcoming app that wants to help you sleep and play with Pokémon all at the same time. Even better, it’s set to arrive this Summer:

The app is supposed to help track, record, and even analyze your sleep patterns. On the “game” side of things, Pokémon with similar sleep patterns/habits will begin to appear. As such, you’re encouraged to “research” the sleep styles of different creatures.

It’s an interesting concept, to be sure. Personally, I’ve never used a sleep tracker, so I’m not sure how beneficial it could be, but I’ve always loved how this franchise has been willing to experiment with real world stuff and helping people in their daily lives. To go along with this, they also revealed the Pokémon Go Plus+ (yes, that’s two pluses).

The new accessory (also launching in the Summer) will work with both Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon Go, allowing you new ways to interact with these titles.

Pokémon Sleep doesn’t have a firm release date just yet, but is set to arrive (at last) this Summer. What do you think about catching zzz’s and Pokemon at the same time?
