If you have been living under a rock, you might like to know that the PS4 has a day one patch. The patch opens up a lot of features for the PS4 and is required to install to access pretty much everything. You can still play games and have it function without the patch, but you will end up wanting to install it one way or another.
With that being said, the launch day is going to be crazy and the download might take a very long time. It comes in at a few hundred MB’s in space, and currently takes 10-15 minutes to download. You can access it by heading to Sony’s website and following the instructions to put it on a USB drive. It is very similar to how the PS3 reads USB drives for patches, with the exception of a folder being called “PS4” instead of “PS3.”
So get going, download the update, and be prepared to get online before all those other people standing in line.
