[Updated] Potential EB Games Australia Leak May Reveal New Mario Kart 8 Switch Info

[Editor’s Update:Whoops!  Looks like we were a little hoodwinked with this, as it turns out the boxart from the report is nothing more than simple fan art that was uploaded to the EB Games site.  Hopefully the Switch version of Mario Kart 8 will bring us some new features, but these aren’t it.

Earlier today I was REALLY bored. I made these, and use Webdevtools to put it onto EB Games’ site. pic.twitter.com/wqZkSeGB3U

Original report follows.]

Ever since Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch, late last year, fans and news sites (of which we’re both) have scoured the internet for any information available, of the first mobile console.  As such, we’ve learned quite a bit more about the system, but not much about the games.  Today, courtesy of a very aware fan, we may have received a sneak peek of the box art for the upcoming Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Switch game.  See the pictures below:

This screenshot was allegedly taken from the EB Games Australian site, that quickly removed the art after posting.  While it isn’t exactly news to see box art, it’s what @vitalitysensor noticed that potentially makes things interesting.

As you can see, the graphic states that there will be a New Battle Mode, 24 New Tracks, and 10 New Characters.  If this happens to be true, it’ll give fans on the fence another reason to buy the Nintendo Switch.  Additionally, the site does show Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as a pre-order game.  This would conflict with Bethesda‘s announcement that Skyrim isn’t yet on the Switch, if true.

Both games were featured, along with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon in Nintendo’s reveal video.

Unfortunately, we cannot confirm that these are 100% true, as EB Games appears to have taken down this page entirely.  However, in just a few short weeks Nintendo will hold a press conference to reveal even more about the Nintendo Switch and perhaps the games included.

The Nintendo Direct for the Nintendo Switch will be held on January 12, 2017.

The Nintendo Switch will be in stores March 2017!
