Rumors: Sony Exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn to Release on PC

Rumors are circulating that the PlayStation 4 exclusive title Horizon: Zero Dawn will be launching on PC, according to Kotaku.

The news come from three people familiar with the plan at Sony, according to Kotaku News Editor Jason Schreier. Sony nor Guerilla Games have confirmed the cross-platform launch of the game.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a game set in a world where machines dominate the earth, leaving mankind to flounder in tribal societies. Play as Aloy and brave the machine-infested world to unearth secrets buried within the earth and help her find her destiny among the remnants of the past.

The critically-acclaimed title developed by Sony-owned Guerrilla Games launched on PS4 in 2017, selling more than 2.6 million units in the first two weeks following launch.

Sony has released a bevy of timed exclusives over the years for games developed by third party developers, between the recent release of Death Stranding and various Call of Duty and Quantic Dream titles (Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human) over the years. But the release of Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC would be a first for Sony, who has had quite the hold on acclaimed exclusive titles and franchises like The Last of Us and Uncharted, both developed by (also) Sony-owned Naughty Dog.

A sequel for Horizon: Zero Dawn was revealed to be under development in April 2019 by actress Janina Gavankar, who voiced Tatai in The Frozen Wilds DLC for the game, during Star Wars Celebration. Gavankar also portrayed Star Wars Battlefront II‘s protagonist Iden Versio.
