For the last 30 years, the Final Fantasy brand has been really good for Square Enix (previously Square Soft). The brand, alone, has produced over 100 titles and garnered millions of dollars. So, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their flagship game, Square Enix has decided to throw them a year-long party, starting today!
As all good birthday parties go, you have to have some fantastic gifts. However, instead of them presenting the gifts to FF, they decided to generously share them with us, the fans. At today’s celebration, Square Enix Executive Officer/Final Fantasy Brand Manager, Shinji Hashimoto unveiled a smorgasbord of new content for Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
It’s not much, but Hashimoto released new key-art for the highly-anticipated episodic game, Final Fantasy VII Remake. The art is beautiful, as the game promises to be. However, in terms of presents this exemplifies the phrase, “Least you could do.”
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladio DLC
The team also introduced the first DLC for Final Fantasy XV! In this DLC, the focus will be on Gladio as he goes on a journey to strengthen his mind and body. He’ll also face off against Gilgamesh, the well-known multi-armed warrior from Final Fantasy’s past. This DLC will be available on March 28, 2017.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Release Date
Next up, one game I’m really excited for, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is coming July 11, 2017! While the release date is great news for Final Fantasy fans, it was the added progression system that had people cheering. For the first time in North America, Square Enix will debut a job character progression system. It’s a fun new addition, with the inclusion of updated visuals and audio.
