Check Out All the Games Shown Off During the Playstation Event

Normally these events are followed by a press release (or series of them) from the company that sometimes include more details on the things showed off during the event.  I’m expecting that will be the case here, but at the time of this publishing, that hasn’t happened just yet.  Below you will find all the games they showed off and announced during the event with what little we know about them so far.

Killzone: Shadow Fall

Many expected them to show off a new Killzone game, and Sony didn’t disappoint when they showed a trailer for Killzone: Shadow Fall.  It should go without saying that this is a PS4 exclusive.

infamous second son

inFamous: Second Son

Sucker Punch is back to follow up on their popular inFamous franchise.  No real details have come out about it, other than it’s a another inFamous game and will be PS4 exclusive.

DriveClub610

Driveclub

Driveclub is the first racing game for the PS4 that’s been announced (which is kind of a bummer because many expected Gran Turismo to make an appearance tonight) and it’s looking pretty slick.  Evolution Studios is working on this title, with the emphasis being on team-based gameplay.  Gamers will be able to use their smartphones to set up races and send invitations for big racing events (from a small group to thousands of competitors).  On top of that, it moves the action into a first-person perspective in the hopes of creating the most realistic driving game experience (while still being fun of course).

Knack

Knack

Knack gets the distinction of being the very first game announced for the PS4 (even though others were brought up mere minutes later).  The game looks interesting and seems to follow a little robot that can do some amazing things.  The game will allow for remote-play with the Vita which essentially is what you get when you play a game on the Wii U.

Deep Down

Deep Down

Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono was on hand at the event to unveil a brand new IP called Deep Down (currently a working title) that appears to be a fantasy adventure that uses the company’s brand new engine; Panta Rhei.

Watch-Dogs

Watch Dogs

Okay, so we’ve known about this game since last year, but since the previous E3 we haven’t seen much of anything at all on the game.  During the PS4 event, the developers took to the stage to finally talk more about the game and show it off a little bit.  A lot was discussed about how gamers will be able to interact with everything in the game.  The exciting part was when they showed off a new live demo of the game.  It gave some clues to the story and showed off some bad ass gameplay.  We’ll get that demo video posted as soon as it’s available.

diablo 3

Diablo III

Blizzard was on hand to announce that one of their top franchises is finally coming to the consoles.  It’ll be available on both the PS4 and the PS3, so even if you can’t buy the new console, you’ll still be able to play it on a home system.  More importantly, the announcement of this partnership means that there’s always a chance of seeing Blizzard’s other titles (like StarCraft and World of Warcraft) come to the consoles as well.  One can only hope.

Destiny

Destiny

Bungie’s new game was on hand to finally show Destiny off to the world, and best of all it’s going to be a PS4 LAUNCH title (with a PS3 version too).  While we got our first glimpes of the game last week with a developer diary, but Activision took advantage of the Sony even to show new footage from the game, as well as some new details on what gamers can expect from it. They call it a ‘shared world shooter’ because it’s a persistent online world where gamers can grow their characters and truly interact with others in the game.  Essentially it’s going to be a FPS MMO, but it looks pretty wonderful.

witness2

The Witness

Braid creator Johnathon Blow was there to show off his new game called, The Witness.  While we’ve know about this game for a while now, (it’s a Myst-inspired game where you search an island and solve clues/puzzles) Blow announced that the game will debut on the PS4.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to see so many games tonight, but I’m glad we did.  As I said, over the next day or two, more information on these titles will probably come out and as soon as the tech demos/trailers are available to us we’ll update this post with them.
