With just a little over three weeks until The Last of Us Part II launches on PlayStation 4, Sony and Naughty Dog held a focused entirely on the sequel.
The 20-minute video, narrated by Director Neil Druckmann, highlights the various seasons and expansive landscapes of Jackson, WY and the Pacific Northwest, specifically a dilapidated Seattle area. Throughout the State of Play, Druckmann discusses each facet of gameplay from mobility to weaponry to crafting to skill upgrades to enemy types and their motivations. It’s rather extensive.
It leads us all to a never-before-seen gameplay sequence that shows how every heart-pounding situation can utilize a mix of stealth and a more direct approach.
The Last of Us Part II State of Play is a nice taste of what’s to come on June 19, 2020. I am loving all the weapon customization and even the skill upgrades. Plus, seeing how massive and lush this post-apocalyptic environment is had me positively giddy with anticipation. All that said, it’s next chapter of Ellie’s story that has these next three weeks feeling like an eternity.
The Last of Us Part II releases exclusively on PlayStation 4 on June 19, 2020.
