The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Gets a May Release Date [Update]

After getting a new look at gameplay recently, the developers behind The Lord of the Rings: Gollum have finally revealed a new release date for the game.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Gollum has a release date. I know, I know…the game hasn’t had the best track record with release dates (or windows) over the last few years, but I’ve got a good feeling about this one. Today, Daedalic and NACON announced the stealth game set in Tolkien’s Middle-earth is set to arrive on May 25th, with a Nintendo Switch version coming later this year.

Even better, fans can get a fresh look at new gameplay thanks to a special showcase at 06:30 pm CET / 1:30 EDT / 10:30 PST on Twitch today.

[Update: Here’s the gameplay they showcased!

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action adventure. Embark on a perilous journey as Gollum, chasing the only thing that is precious to you. Climb, leap, and sneak your way past dangers or into advantageous spots. Gollum is skillful and sly, and torn by a split personality. It is up to you to decide whether to yield to the darker side of Gollum or trust the kinder gentler hint of Sméagol.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum launches for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Consoles, and PCs on May 25, 2023.
