In their recent Q1 Interim Report, THQ Nordic as revealed that Saints Row and Dead Island are both coming to store shelves in the near future. First, after being handed to different teams, Dead Island will be handled by Dambuster Studios.
Dambuster Studios, formerly known as Free Radical Design and Crytek UK, knows all about making huge blockbuster games. I mean, they are the studio that made the one and only GoldenEye 007 for N64! They also worked on games like TimeSplitters, Crysis, Ryse: Son of Rome, and more! So, I think we can say that Dead Island 2 is finally in good hands.
Secondly, Volition is in “deep in development” of the latest Saints Row game in the series. This will be the first full game in the series since 2013, though we did get SR: Gat Out of Hell back in 2015.
Although I am excited about this news, I do have to say I would like the series to return to its roots. Yes, don’t get me wrong, the crazy over-the-top weapons and comedic gameplay are fun…but I still feel Saints Row 1 and 2 were by far some of the game open-world games I ever played.
Dial back the crazy just a bit, add a bit more soul from the older games and I promise sales for this series will skyrocket! We will keep our eyes opened for any more news on these titles, check back here soon for the latest news, previews, and more!
