Today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase kicked it into high gear from the jump. Capcom revealed not one but TWO new Monster Hunter games releasing in 2021. Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
Monster Hunter Rise
Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry in the vaunted Monster Hunter series. The reason for the name Rise is with good reason. This Monster Hunter utilizes tons of verticality with the use of Wire Bugs. These little creatures allow you to grapple up to hard-to-reach places and helps pack quite the punch in dangerous situations.
Rise also features loads of new monsters, including the Bird Wyvern Aknosom, Amphibian Tetranadon, Bird Wyvern Great Izuchi, and the main monster of this game the Fanged Wyvern Magnamalo.
Also included in the game is a new canyne buddy known as a Palamute. This monster fights alongside you, lets you ride it, and never loses stamina. Rise will also see the return the Felyne support creatures, Palico. Players will be able to bring up to two buddies on their adventure, but only one buddy in online co-op.
Monster Hunter Rise will also have three amiibos that are compatible with both new titles announced today. To see more on Monster Hunter Rise, watch the Monster Hunter Direct, below. Pre-ordering is available today and will include a Palamute Retriever Costume, Palico Forest Cat Costume, and a Novice Talisman.
Monster Hunter Rise will release March 26, 2021 on Nintendo Switch.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Unlike Monster Hunter Rise, which is more of a new Monster Hunter adventure, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is an RPG story game where players must bond with classic Monster Hunter monsters to uncover the reason behind the missing Rathalos and protect the coveted egg.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will also release on Nintendo Switch, but in the Summer of 2021.
